Sunday 27st JUNE                2.30pm            Somersham Local Nature Reserve
Leader: Peter Lake/Phil Clark
Somersham Local Nature Reserve (LNR) is a wonderful example of how nature reclaims places if left alone. This was part of the railway line from Cambridge to March, built in 1848 for the transport of coal and agricultural produce before closing in 1967. The nature reserve of 12 hectares includes areas of woodland, grassland and wildflower meadows, a lake and wet woodland. The disused railway line is designated as a County Wildlife Site to recognise the importance of its neutral grassland within the county. The site is jointly owned by Cambridgeshire County Council and Somersham Parish Council. Park on Springfield in Somersham and car share if possible. Grid reference TL365781.

Sunday 18th JULY                2.30pm            Godmanchester Eastside Common
Leader: Pat Doody
Godmanchester Eastside Common is a 29.7 hectare site on the east of Godmanchester and is registered common land and an SSSI. There are two fields, with a disused railway line separating them. The southern field has lines of ridge and furrow. Parking is limited at the end of Cow Lane near the entrance to the Wildlife Trust Godmanchester Nature Reserve. It is likely there will be grazing cattle in the field. Grid reference TL263714.

Sunday 17th OCTOBER         2.00pm           Archer’s Wood
Leader: Alan Robbins/Sheila Wells
For our Fungi Foray this year, we will be visiting Archers Wood, which is owned by The Woodland Trust. Archers Wood covers 18.6 hectares. Directions: Leave the A1 at junction 15. At the roundabout take the first exit, and continue along Toll Bar Way, then turn right at the T-junction, signposted Coppingford. Continue until you see the wood on the left. Parking is in the laybys near the junction of St. Judith's Lane. Grid reference TL172813.
