On 14th May there was a visit to Archers Wood near Sawtry, 11 members attended. The weather was fine and sunny, but due to the rain of the last week or two the ground was very wet and muddy in place, which made going a little sticky. However there was plenty to see and hear, the Bluebells were just about over, but the Early Purple Orchids were in evidence and some plants of the Spotted Orchid were seen mostly in the middle of the ride. Things like Archangel, Chickweed were seen but only one Wood Anemone was found. Black Bryony was found but the Pendulous Sedge was coming up everywhere.

Many warblers were singing including Blackcap, Garden Warbler and Chiffchaff. Also heard were a number of finches, Blackbirds and thrushes. Several butterflies were seen including Comma and Orange tip, a variety of beetles were also found.
